Jonas and Selena Mercury, whose family has been missing for two years, are the parents of four children.
The Mercurys were last seen at a friend’s house on April 16, 2016, when they were at the house to celebrate a birthday party.
They were last heard from on the evening of April 18.
The brothers, both 32, have been on the run since their daughter was last seen in Sydney’s northern suburbs.
Jonas and his partner Laura have been working for a couple of years, and have a one-year-old daughter, Selena.
Selena’s mum, Lisa, said her daughter is “always so bubbly, bubbly”.
“I don’t think she’s going to do anything that’s going, you know, to be too upset,” she said.
Selina was last spotted at her friend’s home in Wollongong in May, when she left for a walk.
She told her friends she was going to meet a friend, but was never seen again.
Selen’s mum said she thought Selena was a “little bit of an idiot”.
“When I got home, my daughter was crying,” she recalled.
“I told her, ‘We need to go now.
We need to take a walk’.”
Selena was last known to have been seen at the home of a friend of the Mercurys, who has since been named as Daniel Smith.
The Smiths were at a birthday celebration in the early hours of the morning on April 17, 2016.
The boys were seen by friends at the party, and were seen to be wearing white T-shirts and shorts.
The Mercury brothers were last known alive to be seen in the vicinity of the Smiths home at around 11.15am the next morning.
Selene’s mum was interviewed by detectives on Thursday.
She said Selena had a bad reaction to a cocktail of painkillers, and she had been at the Smith home the day before.
“She was crying and didn’t know what was going on,” she told ABC TV.
“When she saw the Smith’s, she went into shock.”
We didn’t have any answers for her.
“The Smith family have since been cleared of any involvement in the Mercury’s disappearance.
Selenos father said he was “completely devastated” to hear about his daughters disappearance.”
Selena has a really bad reaction [to painkillers], and it’s not something she’d do,” he said.”
Her mother is still working, and is doing the best she can.
“Selena Mercury’s mum Lisa said she had no idea why her daughter had vanished.”
It’s like we didn’t see her, she just disappeared, and we don’t know why,” she explained.”
The whole time I was looking for her, I didn’t really know what she was doing.
“To think that she’s gone and that she didn’t even know I was there.”
Jonas Mercury has been a police officer for six years, but has yet to be named.
He has since left the force and is now working as a construction worker in Melbourne.
He was a member of the Queensland Police Force for seven years, before joining the Royal Australian Air Force.
Selens mother said she was grateful to the Smith family for their support.
“They have done such a good job.
I think they’ve done the right thing,” she added.
