A parent portal that offers all ellas parents a place to meet, get help, and find their loved ones online has announced a ban on all new ella parent portals.
The ban was announced in a post on the portal’s website, but users could still connect to the portal through their Facebook and Twitter accounts.
It said the decision was taken after a review by the platform’s management team.
It added that the ella portal would be closed from February 26.
The ella mother portal has been suspended, too.
In India, ella, the most popular ella-based portal, had more than 3.5 billion unique visitors in February.
But it is unclear how many parents use the portal for support and communication with their children, especially in rural areas.
A report by the International Centre for Research on Women (ICRW) said a growing number of Indian women are choosing to adopt an alternative lifestyle that includes adoption.
