A mother and father who are both parents to children are raising questions about whether they should know about their children’s parent connect Facebook accounts.
The social media platform is currently investigating the reports.
The parents said they’re worried their children are being used for nefarious purposes.
They also said they don’t want their children to be targeted by their own parents and that they’re not comfortable having their names shared publicly.
“The parents are very concerned that this could be a very bad situation,” a source told ABC News.
“The parents do not want their child being identified as having these profiles.”
According to the mother and son, the Facebook accounts have been used by their three adult children to contact each other.
“They have been using them to contact my children about their issues with their parents,” the source said.
“I think it’s a very good idea that they get this information out there, because the more people that have this information, the more likely it is that this kind of thing can happen.”
The parents said that while they have “full confidence” in the platform, they feel their privacy has been invaded.
“We’ve been contacted by Facebook, but we’re not really sure what they are going to do,” the mother said.
